Comfort Attendance web app for greeting and taking attendance online

Comfort Attendance creates a web app front-end for a Google attendance sheet. Updates can be made by clicking on a name, scanning a QR code, or self check-in via a URL. This add-on is configurable to work with the user's attendance sheet, and users are authenticated through Google sign-in.

This add-on will display a sidebar to guide you through the web app setup. Web app runs on native scripts. Once you have authorized this add-on, it will insert the native web app scripts into your sheet. You can submit your native scripts to Google for verification if you are sharing the native scripts with others, which will take some time, or you can proceed with the advanced option as in this page. What is Comfort Attendance? 

Comfort Attendance is a Google add-on. It runs on your Google attendance sheet where you keep all the data. At set-up time, a web app front-end is created. The web app link can be sent to greeters which provides them the necessary information for welcoming attendees and checking them in.

How is it different from other attendance App?

Comfort attendance wants to provide more that just a tick on a checkbox. It provides information for greeters to provide a warm welcome to attendees or group of attendees and checking them in all together.  

Attendance data are resided in your Google account that you can leverage Google sheet functionalities to process them, customize the attendance sheet and have the customization shown on the web app.

It can be integrated to any web site without going through SPCsoft web page. Please contact us for integration.

It is free and there are no ads. What is the catch?

Do my greeters need to open an account?

For security, greeters have to sign in. You can provide a Google account for all greeters or greeters can use Google One Tap to sign in their Google account. If they don't have a Google account, they can sign up for one which is free.

Can I limit who can sign up?

You can limit the access to your web app for greeters within your domain by the following steps:

• On your attendance sheet, select Extentions > Apps Script > Deploy > Manage  deployments > edit icon (a pencil next to ?). 
• On Version, select New version.
• On Who has access, select Anyone within (your domain name). 
• Click the Deploy button.

Can I customize my attendance sheet? What can be customized? 

Yes, you can customize your attendance sheet and the web app configuration. The following can be customized:

• Change column names which will be displayed on web app
• Add columns which are supported in web app configuration: group, link, caring note and QR code
• Rearrange columns in Google sheet which will change the web app configuration

Can I extend the automation on attendance activities?

Yes, in your attendance spreadsheet > Extensions > Apps Script, there is an onAttend (e) hook. You can add scripts to extend the automation on attendance activities, such as sending out thank you email.

Can I set up QR Code automated check-in?

Yes, you can use any online QR code generator to generate QR code and send to attendees. In your attendance sheet, add a QR code column and provide the column in web app configuration. Web app will have the camera icon for greeters to open and read the QR code.

Can I get a two dimensional attendance table?

Yes, you can use another add-on Freedom Data Import to transform the attendance and saved the data as pdf. 

How does it work?

Host set up the attendance sheet and run the Setup web app function. Open the web app link and share the link to greeters. 

Greeters use the web app link to sign in, greet attendees and take attendance.

Are there any limits on attendance sheets and number of rows?

Not from Comfort Attendance as long as you are within your Google services quotas. 

How do I edit my attendance sheet?  

Just edit as in your other Google sheets.

Is there an attendance template I can use?

Yes, when you run the set up web app, a list of templates will be displayed for your selection. sample data will be populated accordingly for your trial. You can change the data to anything afterward.

How to install?

1. Open your attendance Google sheet. 
2. Go to Google Workspace Marketplace to install this add-on. After Installation, your sheet menu Extensions will have this add-on menu Comfort Attendance. If not, please re-open your sheet.
3. From the menu, select Set up web app and follow the steps displayed on the sidebar to complete the web app set-up. 

How to use?

1. From the add-on menu > Set up web app, click the button Open to view the online attendance web page, and click the share icon  to send the link to greeters. 
2. Open attendance web page from mobile devices.
3. Use the filter, search, or linked names to locate an incomer. 
4. Use the information under the incomer's name to greet and take attendance by clicking the name.
5. Click on the Reload button to get the consolidated updates from the Google attendance sheet.
